Guernsey Militia interest - 1854 pattern Infantry Officers sword by Wilkinson
sold to Osmond De Beauvoir Carey 1874, the etched partially fullered 82cm. blade with Carey crest and 'CR' cypher to either side, ricasso named for Wilkinson, with gothic type hilt and wire bound fish skin grip, with metal scabbard.
* Osmond De Beauvoir Carey was commissioned in 1873 from Guernsey Militia to 24th Foot Regt, then transfered to Royal Welsh Fusiliers in 1874, served in India, appointed instructor of Musketry from 1875-1880, promoted to Captain 1887, retired 1892.
** Accompanying photocopy enquiry paperwork from Wilkinson, Regimental Royal Welch Fusiliers records photocopy and original paperwork from The Royal Welch Fusiliers Regimental Museum.
*** Condition: Polished blade with no nicks etc, overall very good.
