Portrait de Madame Paul Fort, oil on board, signed and dated lower left "Emile Bernard 1933", inscribed on the reverse "Emile Bernard - Portrait de Madame Paul Fort signe .... a gauche et date de 1933", early 20th century water gilded frame, 81 x 60cm. * Accompanied by a black and white photograph of the painting inscribed on the reverse "Emile Bernard - Portrait de Madame Paul Fort femme du Prince des Poets Paul Fort - Je saussigne Commandant Michel Hugo Emile Bernard Fort fils de Peintre Emile Bernard certifie que ce portrait est une oeuvre authentique de mon pere le Penitre Emile Bernard - Certifie Hugo Bernard Fort (Emile Bernard - Portrait of Madame Paul Fort wife of the Prince of Poets Paul Fort - I, Commander Michel Hugo Bernard Fort, son of the painter Emile Bernard, certify that this portrait is an authentic work of my father, the painter Emile Bernard. *The subject of this portrait is the second (?) wife of Jules-Jean-Paul Fort (1872-1960) a significant French poet known as the Prince of Poets who was associated with the Symbolist movement and a close friend of the artist. Together with an old b/w photograph of the portrait by Emile Bernard 420469-5 inscribed on the reverse by the artist's son authenticating the picture.

Although there are no major restrictions concerning the exportation of any works of art or antiquities being offered in this Guernsey auction, buyers are obviously responsible for the proper importation of their purchases into their country of destination.
