An Arts & Crafts satin walnut chair
with curved slat seat and back with padded cushion and arched cresting rail carved & pierced with a vacant shield and birds, the sides pierced and carved with birds and griffins with integral curved arms surmounted by eagle's heads, on arched shaped supports, 22in. (56cm.) wide x 31in. (79cm.) high.

  • Notes: * Provenance - This chair dates from The Arts and Crafts movement of 1890. It was one of a pair from the front of Essex Church, 112 Palace Gardens Terrace, Kensington from 1890-1970. Then the Church was pulled down and rebuilt in a modern style. The vendor''s mother was born in 1908 at 71 Peel street, Kensington abd was a life long member of this Church.
