An 18th century Indian carved hardwood door frame
the substantial frame with multiple stepped & carved bands including bold serpentine scrolls, with a frieze of floral rosettes above the door aperture, the rosettes repeated to the base of either side of the inner frame, 62.5in (159cm) wide x 84in (213.5cm) high x 14in (35.5cm) deep, the door aperture 33in (84cm) wide x 66in (167.5cm) high.

  • Notes: * This door frame was obtained by the vendor's grandfather, who was a lawyer in southern India during the early 20th century. It was given to him in settlement of a bad debt, probably by a farmer, prior to WW1. It has been used as a dramatic chimney piece in a local Channel Islands farmhouse for the past 40 years.
