Description:

A George II silver chocolate pot London 1750, maker Ayme Videau, the hinged lid with urn finial above a tapering cylindrical body with embossed floral and leaf decoration and engraved shield, flanked by a reeded spout and fruitwood handle, set on a circular stepped foot, height 10in (25cm), total weight 26oz. The small inner shield ( signifying the wife) is for Clarke or Clerke. Sir Charles Mansfield Clarke was made a baronet in 1831 and Sir John Clarke was made a baronet in 1660.
