A rare early 18th century boxwood tobacco or snuff rasp
of flat tapering form with incised geometric decoration, the lid swiveling on an iron rivet to reveal a tin grater, one end with a simply carved spout for issuing the snuff from the container, 8in. (20.3cm.) long.
