Nick qualified as a chartered surveyor in 1976. He worked for Chesterton International in London, being appointed a partner of the UK business and then spent 11 years as president of the USA business in New York, before returning to Guernsey in 1997 where he joined Martel Maides as a Director. Loving the sound of his own voice, he found a new niche as auctioneer of land, residential properties, and such oddities as WWII German fortifications. He currently holds the island record having auctioned a single property for £5 million. He has a lifelong passion for antiques and collectibles having started collecting swords and bayonets as a child. Nick finds fine silver almost irresistible, much to the dismay of his wife.
