An important lot of Great War interest
two albums (one quarter filled) documenting the Great War in India and Nepal, the inside cover with typed foreword reading '' WITH THE NEPALES IN MAHSUD WAZIRSTAN 1917 - During the Great War 1914-1918, the King of Nepal, in addition to the twenty battalions of Gurkhas already serving in the Regular Indian Army, lent to the Govt. of India 12,000 of his own army. These troops were lent for internal security of India, and enabled the British and Indian troops of our Indian Garrison for service with the various Indian Expeditionary forces in France, Gallipoli, East Africa, Salonica, Mesopotamia etc. These photographs were taken while serving with the MAHINDRA DAL REGIMENT of the NEPALESE CONTINGENT, during the expedition against the MAHSUDS in 1917'' - the first album with 96 black and white photos each with typed inscriptions beneath, including - ''Marching to entrain at Dehra Dun'', ''Men of the Mahindra on the ferry'', ''Perimeter at Murtaza'', ''"Dug-outs" in camp (Maj Harte, Killed 21.6.17)'', ''Rear Guard in action in Hinnis Tangi'', ''Making and clearing aviation landing ground at Jandola'', ''The Mountain Guns coming into position on the march to Barwand'', ''Picking up targets'', ''Guns in action below Barwand'' etc., the second album with 22 photographs, to include ''Gurkhas fishing in the Tanki Zam'', ''A cavalry sowar of the 11th'', ''Types of transport for the sick and wounded'' etc. (2)

They are a very good Mail Boxes franchise and their charges are reasonable. If you wish to collect the goods yourself (or via an appointed third party) from Guernsey, please let us know within seven days of the sale, so that we can ensure that your purchase is not sent to Mail Boxes and so that the Import VAT can be removed from your invoice before payment.
