Description:

A 19th century German carved and painted Noah's Ark with original animals
probably from Erzgebirge, southern Saxonia, the Ark painted with windows, doors and decorative frieze, the pitched roof opening from one side to reveal void for storage of over 150 wooden carved animals, birds, insects and figures to include Noah and his wife; a Hare on hind legs; pairs of Elephants; Dromedary Camels; Bactrian Camels; Cows; Horses; Sheep; Moose; Monkeys; Rhinos; Reindeer; Bears; Foxes; Dogs; Goats; Bobcats; Wolves; Wombats; Donkeys; Ferrets; Flying Squirrels; Tigers; Lions; Ant Eaters; Moles; and Grasshoppers; together with single figures including a Mouse; Hyena; Mule; Leopard; Zebra, Ladybird; and twenty five pairs of birds to include Swans; Robins; Geese; Pelicans; Penguins; Peacocks etc.; plus single birds, the Ark measuring 17 1/2in. (44.5cm.) long, 10in. (25.4cm.) high.
* Condition: Mostly good with nice aged patina, some carved figures with nibbles, paint loss, missing limbs etc, please view condition photographs. The ark missing one end of deck which originally removed for storage of animals.

All lots, with the exception of furniture and large items, will be shipped to Mail Boxes Etc in Portsmouth, UK at a minimum charge of £10 per lot, dependant on lot size and number of lots purchased. Arrangements for onward delivery or collection from Mail Boxes Etc are the responsibility of the buyer and will incur additional delivery charges.

(c) Exportation and CITES

Although there are no major restrictions concerning the exportation of any works of art or antiquities being offered in this Guernsey auction, buyers are obviously responsible for the proper importation of their purchases into their country of destination. Your attention is directed to the CITES regulations in your country and no items subject to CITES can leave Guernsey without a CITES certificate. No ivory items can be sent to the USA.
