Who's who

  • James Bridges - james.bridges@martelmaides.co.uk

    Director, Martel Maides Auctions

James joined Martel Maides Auctions as a Director in January 2010, after two years acting as a consultant for the firm. He has over fifteen years of experience within the international auctioneering and antiques field, joining Bonhams after leaving Oxford University in 1993 and progressing to Sothebys in 1998, heading the Toy Department at both firms. This period was followed by six years as an independent antiques dealer with outlets in the UK, USA and online, specialising in collectable toys and antique furniture. In addition to auction valuations and cataloguing, he is responsible for Martel Maides Auctions' formal valuation services for Insurance, Probate and Family Division and is enjoying broadening his knowledge to include specialist fields such as Channel Islands silver and paintings.

  • Richard Fox - richard.fox@martelmaides.co.uk

Director, Martel Maides & Martel Maides Auctions

Richard Fox is the director in charge of Open Market Residential Sales and Lettings. After leaving UK based education with an honours degree in Fine Art, his early career path rather incongruously led him to a ten year stint in shellfish farming and through a period in property renovation before arriving at Martel Maides. He has been a leading negotiator specialising in Open Market sales for 25 years and is respected for a pedigree that is second to none. He has been privileged to sell many of the Island’s finest homes - quite often, more than once! Richard is also a director of Martel Maides Auctions.

  • Keith Enevoldsen, FNAEA - keith.enevoldsen@martelmaides.co.uk

    Director Martel Maides Auctions

Keith Enevoldsen was born in Guernsey and educated at Elizabeth College. Having originally worked for the Civil Service prior to branching out into his own watersports business, he entered into Guernsey's property market as an Open Market negotiator in the early eighties. After ten very successful years he found a fresh challenge in the world of retail finance - selling money! However, he missed the cut and thrust of the property market and joined Martel Maides in 2001 as a Local Market negotiator; becoming the department manager in 2003 and a Director of the Company in 2004. He brings a formidable mix of enthusiasm, experience and professionalism which clients and applicants expect from Guernsey's leading property agency. Also, a qualified Auctioneer, Keith can also be found selling chattels and furniture on Thursday afternoons at our Auction Rooms. He tries to keep some spare time for boating and any competitive sport he can find!

  • Jason Yendell - Jason.Yendell@martelmaides.co.uk

    Business Development Manager / Auctioneer

Jason joined MMA in January 2016 as Business Development Manager, after 20 years working in the Finance Industry. He joined Baring Brothers London after graduating from Bournemouth University and spent the next 10 years working in various London based Banks, including S.G.Warburg, Merrill Lynch and Bank of New York. He returned to Guernsey in 2005 where he worked for HSBC Private Bank CI Ltd up until making the decision to make a complete career change to join MMA. His love of art, design and contemporary furniture, together with his experience gained in large financial institutions should hopefully drive the auction business expansion plans. Being a small team, he also gets involved with all aspects of the auction business, including time on the rostrum!

  • Shaun Vidamour - Shaun.Vidamour@martelmaides.co.uk

    Fine Art Cataloguer / Auctioneer

Shaun is the second longest serving member the team at MMA and has always had a love of antiques and curiosities and is an avid collector of silver. Although a born and bred Guernseyman Shaun has travelled the world extensively and has had many varied jobs as a Tree Surgeon and Youth Worker to name but a few. With his trademark moustache and loud shirts and suits he can sometimes be seen sporting lovely bow tie. He helps MMA financially by being one of their best customers as he can't resist buying in our auctions ! His tea and coffee making skills are legendary, so much so, that they appear to be only an annual occurrence. Outside MMA, he can be found herding cows, in his kitchen cooking up masterpieces, or enjoying the odd glass of wine. Shaun is now a fully fledged auctioneer, having been on the rostrum regularly since getting his license, with his now familiar cries of “hammer's up”, “fair warn” and some interesting pronunciations of certain lots!

  • Drew Masterston - Drew.Masterston@martelmaides.co.uk

    Head Porter

Andrew (Drew) Masterton was born and educated in Guernsey but as soon as he could he left the island to go travelling and expand his horizons. Drew has mainly worked stores and manual trades but did have a career break to become fully qualified in bomb disposal operative with Mines Awareness Trust in Kosovo. Which may or may not come in handy at the Auction Rooms ! Drew has an avid interest in collecting books, vinyl and anything to do with military especially the German Occupation and Second World war, so working at MMA is his ideal job, plus his commute to work takes 103 seconds!

  • Tia De Carteret - tia@martelmaides.co.uk

    Porter

Educated at Guernsey Grammar School, Tia developed a keen interest in Vintage clothing and fell into becoming a collector after being unable to resist Vintage finds in Charity shops, Markets and Brocantes.
Her main passion is for Fifties and Sixties clothing and Mid-Century Furniture but also with a love of Books, Art and History. Her job at Martel Maides Auctions is ideal and the perfect opportunity for Tia to broaden her knowledge.

  • Chris Warr - chris.warr@martelmaides.co.uk

    Accounts Manager

The ‘new kid on the block’ (although far from the youngest!) being MMA's latest recruit as their new ‘numbers man’. With a career that has included accountancy, money management, stock broking, and investment portfolio management it could be argued numbers are in his blood. That would be along with the odd glass of red wine or pint of ‘real ale’. When not working on spreadsheets he can frequently be found walking the picturesque L'Ancresse Common, often with a set of golf clubs in hand, which some would argue is one way to ruin a good walk. They've clearly seen him play!
